Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Chika With Me ("we", "us") collects when you use chikawithme.com and the Chika With Me app (the "Service"), how we use it, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible and to keep it safe.
1. What we collect
- Account details you give us: your name, email address, and a password (which we store only as a secure one-way hash — we never store your actual password).
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and Google account identifier, received from Google so we can create or log you into your account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Learning activity tied to your account, such as which groups you're studying and quiz results, so the Service can track your progress.
- Basic technical data that any website receives: IP address, browser/device type and pages viewed, used for security, abuse prevention and understanding overall usage.
- Essential cookies only — a login session cookie and a security (CSRF) cookie. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To provide and personalise the learning experience (your lists, levels and progress).
- To send essential account emails — email verification and password resets.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Chika With Me, and only as needed:
- Hosting — our web host stores the site and database.
- Email delivery — our email provider sends verification and reset emails.
- Content delivery & security — a CDN/security provider (Cloudflare) helps serve the site safely.
- Google — only if you choose "Sign in with Google", to authenticate you.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (or ask us to), we remove your personal data; some anonymised records may remain in security/audit logs. Inactive accounts may be removed over time.
5. How we protect it
Passwords are hashed with a strong algorithm (Argon2id), traffic is encrypted over HTTPS, sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies, and access to data is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
6. Your choices & rights
You can view and update your name and password in your account settings, and you can delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at the address below.
7. Children
Chika With Me is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International processing
We're based in Australia, and our providers may process data in Australia, the United States and elsewhere. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed in those locations, with appropriate safeguards.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; we'll update the version and date above when we do. Significant changes will be made clear on the site.
